If you followed my progress comments, you all know I HATED Xander from the first page. So glad he kept my hatred going throughout the whole book! Lol this is the first time I have read writings by Jillian Jacobs, got this book as an ARC for an honest review. I didn't completely read the synopsis of the book, so I wasn't quite sure what was getting into with this new author. OH MY! I hated Xander from the get go, but Owen, well he's another story. Ember peaked his interest from the second he laid eyes on her during the commercial shoot. Xander just plain creeped me out. Every time it was Xander's time to "talk" I got creepy chills. The things he did to Ember were terrible and unforgivable. The kindness Owen showed to her time and time again proved to her that she was worthy of good things happening to her after the life she grew up loving. Xander tried to make her some "perfect pet" for himself because he thought she owed it to him for all the therapy and counseling he had done for her. CREEPY! Can you see I did not like Xander in the least. And once you read this book, I don't think u will either

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review This books is full of emotions, happiness, sadness, anger, disgusted, fear, and more happiness.  Claire thought because she grew up poor, that money was the answer to happiness. It turns out it's not. After she sees first hand, no pun intended, when Brent punches her in the face when he's drunk and angry, she begins to understand that this is not the life she was hoping for. Of course Brent says I'm sorry it will never happen again and the. Here comes the gifts of jewelry and flowers, just as her friend Greta had told her how it was for her.  After several more times of this, Claire finally gets the courage to run. But Brent finds her, but thankfully the friends that have turned into her family stand by her side while she courageously stands up to Brent for the last time, all the while her new "hero" and love stands by her side, Zeke . With a newfound self and love, Claire allows herself to fall in love with Zeke, to trust him that he isn't like Brent.  And he loves her too.  I love the ending. Something kinda quirky, but totally them.

After we get our food, we park directly in front of my car, and I relax a little, but my hands are still shaking from being so nervous. I’m so hungry that I try to ignore them and eat some of my fries. I sneak a glance over at Marcus, and he’s practically inhaling his cheeseburger. I can’t help but stare at him. He turns his head and notices me.

“What? I’m hungry.”

I shake my head as I laugh. “Nothing. It’s just you’re practically inhaling that burger. Are you even chewing it?”

He snorts. “Like you can say anything. You had your burger gone by the time I put the car in park. So you must have swallowed yours whole. Did you at least taste yours?”

“Touché. And yes, I tasted it. I was starving. That happens when you throw up everything in your stomach.”

“How’s your head? Migraine still there?”

I shake my head. “No, it finally went away.”

He grins as he goes back to eating his food. I do the same, but I can’t stop from smiling.

Wow, this book was full of emotion, all different kinds. It is a beautiful story and I loved every second of it. Third times the charm. Fate and true love always prevail imo. Marcus and Ella are meant to be together, even after only two quick encounters years apart and then meeting in an ER, a most unexpected place to find love. I always want to write so much in my review, but then that would spoil the book, and this book is definitely worth reading yourself. Thank you for allowing me to review this book.

“Where to?” I ask.

He shrugs as he answers, “We can sit up there. That way we don't have to try to see over anybody’s head or anybody kicking us in the back.” He gestures toward the top of the stairs.

Great.

“Okay.”

Not great, nope not great. Me and stairs don't get along. I have a tendency of falling going up them and going down them. Deep breath in and out. Here’s to hoping. I make my way up the stairs, and I’m almost at the very top when it happens. My knee gives out, and I’m on all fours with my ass in the air for Marcus to see as he stands behind me. Ugh…I was wrong, so very wrong. This could get so much worse, and I have a feeling it will. I feel two hands slide around my ribs, slowly helping me to stand.

“Are you sure you're okay?” Marcus asks.

I give him a tight smile. “Yeah, fine. It’s just…I’m nervous. Plus, me and stairs don't get along that well,” I say in a soft voice.

He helps me the rest of the way to the top of the stairs then turns right. He moves down a couple a seats before sitting. I don’t say anything as I take a seat beside him. I rub my right knee. Man, it hurts. I know I’m going to have a bruise come tomorrow.
